With the help of qualified experts, such as geotechnical and structural engineers, I handle cases involving land settlement, landslides and mudslides.
These cases may involve adjoining landowners, so I assist in working with neighbors to develop mutual remedies for work not covered by insurance. Sometimes, a landslide or mudslide occurs as a direct result of an adjoining neighbor either not installing necessary drainage systems or installing insufficient ones. Under such circumstances, I can help my clients make a claim to the owner who is liable for damage to my client's land and buildings.
In the context of landslides, I represent clients with respect to their insurance coverage and claims: drafting written claims, interpreting policies, negotiating for damage payments and dealing with claim denials.
I keep abreast of new developments in the area of land movement, augmenting my knowledge through continuing education in this area of the law.
